About the course:

Myofascial Yoga is an embodied, fascia-aware approach to functional movement and holistic self care.

Targeting the nervous system and fascial system in movement practices is important for building a healthy relationship with our body, mind, and spirit both on and off the yoga mat. Learning the language of our nervous system states, from the inside out, gives us a detailed and nuanced view of our internal landscape, and an instruction manual for moving and meditating well.

If you:

- would like to learn more about the remarkable role of fascia
- struggle with anxiety and want to understand it from a physiological perspective
- would love to build a more resilient nervous system
- are looking to better understand your and your students' bodies and cues to create more personalised practices
... then this course is for you.

Through a combination of lectures, mindfulness-based movement practices and experiential homework assignments, you will navigate the often untapped wisdom of your body and the power of your integrated brain and nervous system.

This is a recording of a live, online course Christine taught in October 2021.

In this course you will:
  • Learn fundamental concepts such as polyvagal theory, the window of tolerance model and brain-heart coherence, integrative yoga principles, neural plasticity and a somatic approach to movement, from a theoretical and experiential framework.
  • Understand the basics of fascia anatomy, particularly the fascial lines that are directly and indirectly connected to the vagus nerve.
  • Discuss the latest research in neuroscience of mindful movement, breathwork and meditation.
  • Learn how to track your nervous system and analyse how it responds to different mindful movement practices and breath practices in order to create a detailed map of your own internal landscape.
  • Explore your holding patterns so you can begin to unravel and unwind them to support healing and release persistent pain.
  • Consider several different types of self-care, self-love, and self-respect, and dive into all of them with different forms of practice.
  • Learn how to track non-verbal body cues and how to use that information to create a safe container for your students, and teach client-centered classes.
Who is this course for?

This course is designed to be a fascia-focused guide for movement and self-care. It is suitable for:
  • Yoga teachers and movement educators.
  • Anyone who wants to learn how to move their body better, reduce pain levels, and create an empowering yet gentle self-care program.

If you have ever been curious about the body/mind aspect of yoga and how it can help you or your students, come and join us for a deep dive into a fascia-aware and nervous system-informed approach to yoga and movement.
